Mission: Enhance the parenting
skills of Teller County parents in order to improve coping skills,
reduce family stressors, and improve the quality of family living.
Program Description: Parenting
is a topic that has received very little attention in our educational
institutions and it is not something that comes naturally to most
people. Poor parenting skills are the primary cause of behavioral
problems among children and youth. Programs like the “Incredible
Years” has been shown to increase parenting skills over broad
populations of parents. The Community Partnership Family
Resource Center offers this program twice a year in both the CPFRC
Divide Training Room and at the Cresson Elementary School in Cripple
Creek. The programs are offered free to the public. Childcare
is provided along with a meal free of charge.
Funding: The program is
funded by the Temple Hoyne Buell Foundation and the Tony Grampsas
Youth Services.
