Mission:
Provide a supervised, safe and structured, yet fun, place for
middle school youth to be after school.
Program
Description: Approximately 40% of Teller County’s
workforce commutes to El Paso County for work. After
School Programs have proven to reduce the incidence of
problems associated with youth left alone after school.
The Woodland Park Middle School After School Program is
in its second year operating in a modular unit behind the
Middle School. The program currently has 16 students
registered and will serve several more by the end of the
school year. The program is designed to balance structure
with fun. Daily sessions include a snack, some physical
activity, games, supervised computer work, and tutoring
sessions. The program is co-coordinated by Pam Parent.
Middle School science teacher Chuck Lawrence provides tutoring
services to students on an as needed basis. This program
is funded by tuition and a grant from the Tony Grampsas
